In the 20th century more studies were conducted on the URDAIBAI Biosphere Reserve than on any other area in the Basque Country. Numerous research projects concerned with aspects of the reserve are on record in document archives that can be consulted via this WebSite. The many teams of researchers and research centres working in the area have organised many events, such as the research seminars held at the Science Faculty of the University of the Basque Country in November 1993 (involving over 70 researchers) and the seminar organised on Txatxarramendi island in the Biosphere Reserve itself in October 1999.
