How to get there

By car

Bilbao has unbeatable communications in the north of the peninsula: the A-8 motorway towards Santander in the west, and to San Sebastián, Irún and France to the east; and the AP-68 to Vitoria, Logroño, Zaragoza, Barcelona, Burgos and Madrid.

By air

Bilbao Airport is 12 kilometres from the city, in Loiu. The airport has a motorway link to Bilbao, and there is also a bus service (Bizkaibus, route 3247) between the city and the airport every 30 minutes, stopping at several locations in Bilbao.

By bus

The main bus station in Bilbao is the Termibús Station next to San Mamés Intermodal Station (metro/suburban train service). Termibús is accessible by metro (San Mamés), by Bilbao´s Tram (EuskoTran), the Bizkaibus bus routes and Renfe´s suburban train network.

For further information, consult Bilbao Tourism where you will find plans and detailed information on bus routes, airlines, timetables etc.

If you are travelling to Bilbao by car, you should remember that the city operates a parking payment system (O.T.A. parking zones).
There are 2 colour-coded parking areas: green, where maximum parking time is 5 hours, and blue, where the maximum is 2 hours. You can buy your ticket at the parking meters all over the city.
