The Euskalduna Music and Conference Centre by Soriano and Palacios was opened in February 1999. Together with Gehry´s Guggenheim Museum, it represents a historical milestone in the transformation process experienced by the city of Bilbao.

The Euskalduna Centre, acclaimed as a major contemporary work by Spanish architects, is located on the former site of the Euskalduna shipyard, and symbolises the last ship built there.

It is an enormous multi-functional 53,000 m2 complex - its auditorium has exceptional acoustics, and the centre also has several fully equipped polyvalent theatres. In 2003 it received the World´s Best Conference Centre award from the International Conference Centre Association.
