Getting around Bilbao


Although Bilbao is ideal for walking routes, you may need to use the local transport system to get around:


 

 

 

Metro
Designed by Norman Foster and opened in 1996.
It has 2 lines (Etxebarri - Plentzia and Etxebarri - Portugalete).

The tram service started operations at the end of 2002,
and takes passengers from Atxuri to Basurto.

The best way to get around the city is with a public transport card:

BILBAOCARD.
This is a tourist card for the city´s public transport system, with discounts on museums and a range of shops in Bilbao. You can buy your card at the tourist offices, or on line  at

CREDITRANS.
This is a public transport card which is gradually used up with the price of each journey. On sale at metro stations, tram stations, bus stations and estanco tobacconists.
